Which Sri Lanka tour is best for a couple or a honeymoon?

For a one-week romantic break, the 7-day Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and Bentota tour packs in a sunrise climb, the hill-country train and a beach finish. For a longer honeymoon with more time by the sea, the 12-day Explore Sri Lanka tour ends with three nights at Mirissa and a stay at Bentota.

If you want sunrise views and safaris

The Grand Sri Lanka tour spends three nights at Sigiriya (Lion Rock at sunrise, Pidurangala, Polonnaruwa, a Minneriya safari with a jungle BBQ dinner and a cultural dance show), then three nights in Ella for the Nine Arch Bridge, Ella Rock and Ravana Falls, and two nights at Yala for the national park safari.

If you want tea country and the ocean

The 8-day Nuwara Eliya, Ella and South Coast tour skips the Cultural Triangle. It starts at the elephant orphanage and the tea estates, takes the scenic train to Ella, then heads south for whale and dolphin watching at Mirissa, Galle's Dutch Fort and the Madu River wetlands at Bentota.

The 7-day and 12-day tours travel by private air-conditioned car, which suits couples who want to go at their own pace.

When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka from the UK?

December to March is the best time for the west and south coasts and the hill country – the areas all four urbook tours cover. That makes Sri Lanka a good winter-sun choice for Christmas, New Year or February half-term.

If your dates are fixed by UK school holidays, book early so you get the tour and the airport parking you want.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka with a British passport?

Yes. British tourists need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which GOV.UK says is issued free of charge and is valid for 30 days. Apply online on the official Sri Lankan site, eta.gov.lk, before you travel.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you arrive. Every urbook tour here is 12 days or fewer, so it fits well within the 30-day ETA. Passports, visas and any vaccinations are your own responsibility, so check them when you book.

How long is the flight from London to Sri Lanka?

Non-stop flights from London Heathrow to Colombo take around 10 hours 30 minutes to 10 hours 45 minutes. Plan on arriving at Heathrow three hours before a long-haul flight; our guide on how early to arrive at Heathrow has the timings, and the Heathrow terminal guide helps you find your terminal.

How urbook checks its holiday partners

urbook checks every holiday partner's licence and that it is eligible to operate, and has a signed memorandum with each partner. When you are booking a once-in-a-lifetime trip with a newer brand, that means the Sri Lankan ground operator running your tour has been checked before its packages appear on urbook.

Each package lists what is included – hotels, breakfast, transport and the named activities – and the price is fixed in pounds when you book, so it does not change if exchange rates move. Cancellation charges are set by the ground operator and confirmed before you pay.

Can I add Heathrow parking or a transfer to a Sri Lanka holiday?

Yes. Add parking or a transfer when you book the tour and it sits on the same booking reference with one payment. As of 15 October 2026, urbook shows Heathrow parking from £63.60 for 7 days and Heathrow Meet & Greet from £81.60 for 7 days; longer trips are priced for your exact dates.

48 hours before you go, your tour details and any parking or transfer appear together in your urbook booking. That is urbook – your booking, sorted: holiday, parking and transfer in one place. Read more in holiday, parking and transfer in one booking, or compare with our Nepal holiday packages guide.
