How Park & Ride works at Heathrow

You drive to the car park yourself, park in a marked bay and, at most Heathrow Park & Ride car parks, hand your keys to the staff – each car park's More info says which. Staff meet you, help with the luggage, confirm your return details and photograph the car's condition with you. A shuttle then takes you to the terminal, typically in around ten minutes.

Your car stays exactly where you left it, in a CCTV-monitored compound, for the whole trip. Nobody else drives it. For a lot of travellers that alone is the reason to choose Park & Ride over Meet & Greet.

Getting to your terminal from the car park

Heathrow's free internal transport does most of the work. From our Park & Ride drop-off the route is:

  • Terminal 4 - free local bus or the car park's shuttle straight there.
  • Terminal 2 - free local bus or the car park's shuttle to T4, then the free train to Terminal 2.
  • Terminal 3 - free local bus or the car park's shuttle to T4, then the free train to Terminal 3.
  • Terminal 5 - free local bus or the car park's shuttle to T4, then the free train to Terminal 5.

For the car park's shuttle, call the car park before your parking date. Build that into your timings, especially for Terminals 2, 3 and 5 where there is a change involved.

How much time to allow

Call the car park about 30 minutes before you arrive so a member of staff is ready for you. Then allow around ten minutes for the shuttle, plus the train leg if your terminal needs one, on top of your normal check-in time.

If you are running late or early, call - it is far better than turning up unannounced.

Coming home

Call once you have collected your baggage and are ready to leave the terminal. Board the return shuttle from the terminal stop, show your ticket at the barrier, and collect your car.

What to have ready

Your booking reference, your keys, and any unusual starting instructions. Take valuables with you. Do not leave the car unattended before staff have met you.

Park & Ride or Meet & Greet?

Park & Ride is normally the cheaper option at Heathrow. Meet & Greet costs more and removes the shuttle from both ends. If you are not in a hurry and would rather nobody else drove your car, Park & Ride is the one.

Do I keep my keys with Park & Ride?

At most Heathrow Park & Ride car parks you hand your keys to the staff, who park the car. If you want to keep your keys, choose Self Park. Each car park's More info says which.

How early should I arrive?

Call the car park about 30 minutes before you get there, then allow ten minutes for the shuttle plus the train leg if your terminal needs one, on top of normal check-in.

Do I pay a Heathrow car park charge?

No. The airport's short-stay charge applies to Meet & Greet, not Park & Ride.

Do you offer a discount for new customers?

Yes. New customers can use URFIRST10 for £10 off or WELCOMEUR for 10% off their first booking, entered in the discount box at checkout – one code per booking. It applies once, on your first completed booking, and cannot be used again afterwards.

How long is the shuttle at Heathrow?

Around ten minutes from the car park to Terminal 4. For Terminals 2, 3 and 5 you then change to Heathrow's free train, so allow extra time.

Is my car secure?

Cars are parked in CCTV-monitored compounds. Specific cover varies by operator and is set out in each one's terms.

Which terminals does this cover?

All of them - Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminal 1 closed in 2015.

Yes. urbook means your booking, all in one place. Alongside parking and transfers we list holiday packages to Nepal, Sri Lanka and India – land-only tours (hotels, transport and sightseeing); flights are not included. See Holidays & Flights on urbook.co.uk.
